Leeds United vs Fulham

There are two Premier League teams who like to attack. In fact, two seasons ago, I dealt with the best and worst games of each team. It was a huge game with seven goals and the home team won.

Fulham have since been relegated and promoted immediately. Leeds, on the other hand, had a good first-division season for the first time in 16 years and managed to survive. So how should we judge them now?

So far this season, both teams have made strides that can lead to the belief that they can remain in the Premier League with some composure. But consistency is important in this game.

Issues

One reason for the optimism among Leeds and Fulham fans was when they faced a strong team. For example, Fulham, newly promoted in the season opener, faced runner-up Liverpool last season and drew 2-2.

And last weekend Leeds looked the same against league leader Arsenal, losing by only one point but it wasn’t a matter of adaptation or talent. Rather, he couldn’t take the opportunity, especially the penalty kick.

As both teams play this game in this way, it is expected that this weekend’s game will be scored. The two teams experienced conflicting results Thursday night.

Fulham were excellent at home to Aston Villa, with Harrison Reed, Aleksandar Mitrovic and an own-goal 3-0 win, and Chelsea midfielders Willian and Andreas Pereira were particularly impressive.

It was an evening when Premier League highlights erupted as players around the Thames recorded their biggest victory in nine years.

Marco Silva’s team is heavily dependent on the striker, who has scored eight goals in his first 10 games this season, and one of the most interesting parts of the game is how Mitrovic will cope with the wild atmosphere of the Elland Road.

They will put pressure on Kenny Tete, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, and Nathaniel Chalova could play after the suspension. Daniel James, who signed on loan, is out of action against Mogudan.

While Fulham beat Villa, Leeds lost to Leicester, a far cry from Arsenal four days ago. American coach Jesse March was even criticized by his team’s fans.

The pressure adds to Sunday’s game, with the only possible change being to get Pascal Straig back on the pitch. Leo Hilde will not be available until next week after his appendix is removed.

Leeds have won three league games in a row and have not won seven games. They lost five of them, so they have to win points. It remains to be seen what “looks” Leeds will look like after two conflicting performances this week.

Record

According to the record, the two teams were always neck and neck. Leeds have a total of 26 wins, Fulham have 19 wins and 15 other matches have been drawn. In the 2019/20 season, the two teams were promoted to the first division and the home team won each match. Fulham won 2–1 at home and Leeds won the next game.

Leeds have since won all three matches, one of which was mentioned earlier. At that time, Elder Costa scored two goals, Mateus Clich (penalty kick) was also on the scoring list, and Patrick Bamford was the same.

Fulham scored by Mitrovic (two goals) and Bobby Decordova Reid. Bamford also scored in the next game, a 2–1 win for Hafigna. Joachim Andersen scored Fulham’s goal.

They also faced off in the third round of the League Cup last season, with Leeds winning on penalties after a scoreless draw. Prior to that, the first division match between the two teams should go back 20 years.

Leeds won 3–2 at Elland Road in late 2003, when Fulham’s Luis Saha (who moved to Manchester United a month later) scored twice, then Mikhail Dewberry and Mark Viduka tied and Dominic Matteo scored the second-half winner.

Fulham won their next match at Kraven Cottage in March 2004, 2–0, scored by Sean Davis and Luis Boa Morte.
